Waking Up A Ghost Town was the cover story of the September 2021 edition of Mustang News, the local newspaper of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. The article analyzes the reactions and anticipation of students and faculty to resuming in-person classes after the Covid-19 Pandemic. The colorized elements of the otherwise black and white photographs the predominately empty campus of Cal Poly represent the new life and energy emerging as students come back to campus. This message is further emphasized by the bursts of orange strokes and outlines.
This Cover and editorial spread won 2nd Place for Best Editorial Print Design and 3rd place for Best Overall Newspaper Design in the ACP Fall 2021 National College Media Convention.
